Strategy
Swiss Life Funds (LUX) Bond 12 M is a short-term bond fund investing mainly in investment-grade issues (while having the possibility of allocating up to 20% to high-yield bonds). Management optimises returns while maintaining a controlled risk profile and limited interest rate sensitivity. The recommended investment horizon of the FCP is at least 12 months.
Management commentary
The month was marked by conflict between the United States, Israel and Iran. The virtual closure of the Strait of Hormuz has severely disrupted energy markets. This shock led the market to revise inflation expectations, which pushed rates up, especially short-term rates. Against this backdrop, the ECB reiterated its position to remain “data dependent” while leaving itself the possibility of tightening its monetary policy if inflationary pressures spread to the economy. The markets quickly took account of these changes: premium yields widened over the month by 14 bps and the German 10Y by 36 bps to close at 3.00%.
